Film and TV – I’m famous times dos

The world tuned in to ABC a few weeks ago to watch my Network Television debut, only to find that I was nearly edited out completely from the episode of WIPEOUT in which I participated. It may not come as a shock to you that, although this was my TV debut, this sort of thing is not unusual for a massive star such as myself. Didn’t you know I was already famous prior to WIPEOUT?

In 1997 I was in the movie CONTACT. Yep, Foster, McConaughey and Jorgenson all in one epic saga about a message from outer space, headphones and large satelite dishes.

Here’s the video of my superstardom

Filming the movie with other celebrities was quite enjoyable and rewarding. I even got a free long sleeved white shirt with a Contact logo on it, along with $450!Ok, so I’m not famous… nor was I in 1997. My High School choir used the directors need for extras as a fundraising tool and so we got $150 a day and got out of school all to raise money to go to DisneyWorld. Sounds like we had our priorities right where they should be. And yes, that really is me in the black hat and brown shirt.

Employment Opportunities

I am at a Starbucks in Newport Coast waiting for a client. Since I'm not a coffee drinker I always take my time going into the store. While walking up to the door I noticed this peculiar sight… Maybe the person they are looking to hire would have to have the skills to hang signs properly. With unemployment approaching 6 percent and underemployment well into the teens it seems Starbucks could hire some pretty skillful baristas.

Wipeout Widget

I don’t know why I’m posting so much about this… I’m going to be mocked so badly that I’ll have to go in hiding for a month to allow people to forget about the embarrassing falls.

Husbands today and WIPEOUT

Two quick things. My sister had this test on her blog, so I thought I’d see how I measured up against husbands of the 1930’s. To be totally fair, my wife would need to take this for me but I tried to answer honestly.

161

As a 1930s husband, I am
Very Superior

Take the test!

What’s funny is that I was just recently considering how much more Men do these days. This is not a sexist argument. I am not saying that Men do more than Women. My wife is an amazing, remarkable woman. How she takes the kids shopping alone is enough to earn her a Super Mom badge. I was watching an old show and saw the Dad just kicking back in a lounger reading the paper after a day at the office and chuckled to myself. When I come in it’s kids around the ankles, roll up the sleeves and help any way I can. I think this is how most Men are these days. We’re more domesticated than our Grandfathers were.

Secondly.

WIPEOUT starts tonight. I’m not on until July 29th, but it should still be a fun show to watch.

Since Wednesday

These are my prescriptions since Wednesday (not including the two batches of IV drugs during the ER trips). I can't even think of the last time I've had to get a prescription for being sick so this is a real treat. Rush Limbaugh would be proud.

Home from the E.R. again

Still no diagnosis, but at least this time they hit the spot with a nice cocktail of drugs. They gave me a high dosage of an anti-inflammatory, another big anti-biotic, some spectacular narcotic of a pain killer and one other wonder drug. I was able to eat dinner and even enjoy a home made brownie… I must be on the road to getting better.

My culture results should be in tomorrow, and if there are nothing definitive there then they will refer me to an ENT specialist. But as long as I can eat and breath I’m better than I was this morning.

Hey wait… what was in those brownies?

Is this really blog worthy?

I don't know if sharing my mystery throat infection with the world is really appropriate, but it takes my mind off of things and I think one or two people out there may like staying apprised at my situation. I'm back at the ER… We'll see how it goes this time. This trip was Tanya's call. When I was having a hard time swallowing she had me show her my throat and she said it's nearly swollen shut. Even the 'hanging ball thingy' as she calls the uvula is swollen all crazy.

And the winner is…

I was taking Darvocet for the pain circus that was going on in my mouth, but it wasn’t really doing much the last couple of days. When we were at the hospital yesterday the Dr. prescribed Vicoden.

MUCH BETTER.

I’m going back to sleep now.No, they aren’t really blue and red gel caps, but I liked picture.

At the E.R.

so, after 5 hours in the E.R. they finally came in to give me the test results. Nothing. But they are sending me home with more potent drugs.

Lame

I am lame. I’m going to the E.R. because I have a sore throat. Sure, it’s really bad and not responding to antibiotics and makes me want to cry because of pain but going to the E.R. for a sore throat is like missing the championship game because of a ingrown toenail.
Wish me luck.

Diversity

My wife recently added a mapping application to her blog. It tracks, through ip addresses, the cities that blog readers visited from. It was pretty interesting since we didn’t know people in some of the areas so I thought I’d take a look at my recent map.
How cool! I may not get as many hits on my blog per day as my wife does but my readers are certainly more diverse. Thanks for reading my blog everybody!

Under the weather

I don’t get sick very often. Maybe once a year I’ll have a headache or something. Late last week I started to feel a bit sluggish and then my glands started swelling. I went in to the Dr. yesterday and they did a rapid strep test which came back negative. Then they gave me a nice shot in the bum (antibiotic in case it was strep) and took some blood to check for Mono. Mono? Who gets mono? Well, they called today and apparently not me. I don’t have strep and I don’t have mono. I just can’t stay awake for more than a couple of hours, it hurts like mad to swallow and I have no energy.

Which brings me to the point of my post. Help. I need some home remedies for something that seems a lot like Strep Throat. I’ve gargled salt water already, but I’m open to anything. I just want to get better so I can play with my kids and help my wife around the house. Come on all of you Moms out there, give me your home remedies.

WIPEOUT update

I just heard that my episode of WIPEOUT will air on 7/29/2008. Looks like you’re going to have to wait a while to see how great I did.

My Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday, and it was certainly an interesting day. Here is, in pictures, a synopsis of my day:
I started the day off with an early trip down to Newport Beach to go to the Temple, followed by peeing in a cup for a drug test (I’ve had to do two of these in the last week… don’t they know that I don’t do dope?) then we piled into our hot mini-van and hit the road to Las Vegas… with 3 kids… it took 6 hours. We finally got to our resort and will be here a few days for my sister in laws wedding. I spent the evening sitting on the balcony listening to the crickets and gazing at the Vegas lights while the girls planned wedding stuff. It may not have been the most exciting birthday, but it was certainly an interesting one.

Feels good

When I landed in San Jose there was a driver waiting with one of those little signs bearing my name. It feels pretty jazzy being driven around in a town car. Now, if they only would have sent a Bentley.
