What a day!

I had an awesome day today. I spent most of the day down in Orange County negotiating contracts on a few big real estate deals. I have some great clients that I am working with to put together a commercial venture and we wrote up a couple offers on residential properties today. Then I had lunch with a good friend and business partner (thanks for lunch Phil, the cucumber wrapped spicy tuna rocked). Just when I thought the day was approaching it’s apex I landed a new client that has a lot of property in coastal Orange County. One of his properties leases for $19,000 a month and I’m hoping to have it sold this week!

To top it all off I met my wife and kids at Disneyland for dinner and check out my score on Buzz Lightyear… I don’t know why, but I was really proud of this.

Today and the Law of Expectation

So some guys ‘stole’ my law, named it the law of attraction and made a killing marketing the concept that the things we dwell upon become bigger in our lives. The Law of Expectation that I began formulating in 1999 while living in Africa is a little different, and I plan on expounding on it in a post shortly.

I have been waiting on some pretty big deals to close recently. Three big ones and a couple little ones, but they’re all big to me right now. With the real estate market in turmoil none of these deals have gone remotely close to as planned and this has been the source of a small *cough* amount of stress in my life. But today things begin to change in my favor. There may not be one specific thing that will change today, but I believe that the momentum will finally be picking up and moving in my direction. I’m ready to unload these three so I can focus on new projects and spend some quality time with the family that has been so patient with me.

So if you woke up this morning and smelled something in the air, it was the winds of change and it smells GREAT!

With the Right Mindset, You Can Overcome Any Problem

I hijacked todays post from a Trump email. I think it speaks for itself:

With the Right Mindset, You Can Overcome Any Problem

Blog Image

Don’t dwell so much on a problem that you’ve exhausted yourself before you can even entertain a solution. It just doesn’t make sense. It takes brainpower and energy to think positively and creatively — and to see creatively and positively. Going negative is the easy way, the lazy way. Use your brainpower to focus on positives and solutions and your own mindset will create your own luck.

Shakespeare put it this way, in a famous quote from Julius Caesar:

“The fault is not in our stars, dear Brutus, but in ourselves.”

That’s a clear message. We are responsible for ourselves. We are responsible for our own luck. What an empowering thought! If you see responsibility as a bum deal, then you are not seeing it for what it really is — a great opportunity.

Let’s say you’re facing some big challenge today. I can tell you right now you’ve got a lot of company. What will separate you from the complaining crowd will be how you choose to look at your situation. If you believe you are in control of it — and you are — you will know exactly who to look for when you need help: yourself. You could be your greatest discovery yet for success, luck, power, and happiness.

When I encountered enormous financial challenges back in the 1990s, I was mature enough to assume responsibility and know that the problem was mine. I knew it wouldn’t do any good to blame other people. That would be a waste of time, and that’s one kind of loss I don’t like. Time is something that cannot be replaced. If you find yourself slipping into the blaming others mode, get out of it quickly.

Give luck the chance it needs to play itself out in your life. No one can do it for you. As soon as you discover that luck is yours to create, you’ll be thinking and seeing things in a whole new way. So work hard, have fun – and good luck!

Today’s article is adapted from Donald J. Trump’s newest book, Trump: Never Give Up: How I Turned My Challenges into Success, published by John Wiley & Sons.

Eavesdropping

I was invited to lunch today by a commercial lender that I met on the tram at Disneyland. During the meal we talked through a few deals I am currently working on and about some deals that we hoped to do in the coming months. While we were wrapping up our lunch at Mimi’s (it would have been sushi if it were my choice) the gentleman in the booth next to ours piped up and, after apologizing for eavesdropping and interrupting, mentioned that he is an investor and also represents clients that are looking for deals wherein they can invest their capital. We had a pleasant, but brief, conversation and exchanged cards with the promise to talk again very soon.

There are a lot of deals out there and a lot of capital still waiting to be invested. You never know where you’ll meet the person that can help you close your next deal, it could be on the tram at Disneyland or at a booth at a girly restaurant. Keep your eyes and ears open and make your own destiny.

Real Estate Guru’s & Guppies

I have an idea. As I get more and more into Real Estate in various ventures my passion for it only grows. Recently I have been networking with people that have been in the industry longer than me, or at least in other areas. I love talking with other people that are working projects, making deals, and creating their own markets. I would like to start doing mini-interviews with people from varying sectors in Real Estate and posting them on here. If you are reading this and have somebody that you think would be a good candidate for a 10-15 question interview please email me at tyler(at)tylerjorgenson.com

I’d love to interview The Trump. He’s a marketer and branding machine as much as a developer.

Stay tuned for interviews. Many of the people may be those you’ve never heard of, but it’s often the guys that you’ve never heard of that are making the biggest waves.
